Europe at a Glance. . .
As
the planet's 6th largest continent, Europe includes (44) countries
and numerous related dependencies, islands and territories. It's
separated from Asia by the Ural Mountains in the east and the Caspian
Sea in the southeast. The highest points are Mt. Elbrus (in the
Caucacus Mts.) at 18,481 ft (5,633 m), just north of the Georgia/Russian
border, and in western Europe, Mont Blanc, at 15,771 ft (4,807m)
in the French Alps. Europe's lowest point is the Caspian Sea suface,
92 ft (28m) below sea level.
